What I Read in the Month of June, July, and August

It’s been pretty busy these last few months and before you know it…my summer came to an end! I haven’t neglected my reading, but I have however failed to update on my reading list. So without further ado, let’s jump right in and start with June. I won’t be writing full summaries on these because you can check out Goodreads. I am just writing about my opinions.

The book I chose for June was all over instagram and I couldn’t help but pick this one up. Beach Read by Emily Henry. It’s an easy to read romance book, perfect for light reading and travel. I read this when I was traveling to visit family in Colorado. I found the book interesting because both the characters are writers going through mid-life crisis that need to sort out their issues. I love characters with flaws that redeem themselves somehow. Happy ending!

Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I started reading this book for a local book club that I belong to (back in January), but didn’t have time to finish. It was a slow start for me, and I just couldn’t dive right into it. The probable reason is I’m a tough stickler when it comes to fantasy. Unless it’s written by my favorite author J.K Rowling, then I have a difficult time getting into the setting and atmosphere with the characters. I know, it’s unfair to compare Night Circus to Harry Potter, but that’s what I like. However, somewhere towards the middle of the book, it picked up for me, and then I realized this isn’t a love story. Y’all know I love a good love story. I admit I was disappointed because of that factor.

August reading was Colleen Hoover’s book called Layla. I read it, but wasn’t very excited. There was only so much that I could handle with the main character’s likability or lack of it. He got on my nerves! I had a difficult time finishing this one, and I love Colleen Hoover.

Hopefully September and October’s reading will be more exciting? I have a few more books on my desk that I’d like to get into and I can’t wait!
