Just stopping by to say a quick hello. I’ve been busy sitting in my office…working. I’m too driven to go out and enjoy summer, especially when my work is near completion. And really this is only the beginning.
Right now I’m breaking from re-edits to enjoy some music. My protagonist is very Bohochic-inspired and her music tastes are eclectic. She loves bands like Wolf & Cub, Echo &The Bunnymen, and singer Lana Del Rey. Even underneath all this, she’s still very traditional (Bach, Mozart, Tchaikovsky).
When I write scenes, especially with her dialogue, I want my protagonist’s love for music to come out. Why? Because this is what she wants. Music is her escape. It’s a part of her hopes, dreams, goals, and most of all…her way out of the current situation she’s in.
I shared a few songs from this 80’s British band Echo and the Bunnymen before. I think I’ve said this a thousand times: lead singer Ian McCulloch is a brilliant songwriter. If you don’t believe me, read the lyrics from the song TheKilling Moon.
As for The Cutter, I read the lyrics to this song and couldn’t believe my eyes because the word Mustard is mentioned. To be honest, I will not look at mustard the same way now. Gotta love McCulloch’s use of words in lyrical matters.
This is Echo and the Bunnymen’s alternate version of their original song. Some people like the original version, some like the alternate. You decide. As for me… I like the alternate.
I don’t know if you remember, but I like watching time-lapse videos. I truly believe it’s a creative art form. I admire people who share nature’s beauty on the internet, especially for those of us who can’t be there in person and afford to travel.
When I watch this video, I’m reminded of my youth spent on family road trips where Dad would drive us out into the California mountains, and then head towards the upper Northwest region. We would drive, explore, and then pitch up our tents to camp overnight.
Watching these inspirational videos creates a peaceful and calming mood for me, especially when the video is paired perfectly with the right music.
So, I hope you’ll take a quiet moment from your day and enjoy this video. Let me know what you think!
