    Today’s Thought

One of my favorite passage taken from Gerald N. Lund’s talk.

The heart is a tender place. It is sensitive to many influences, both positive and negative. It can be hurt by others. It can be deadened by sin. It can be softened by love. Early in our lives, we learn to guard our hearts. It is like we erect a fence around our hearts with a gate in it. No one can enter that gate unless we allow him or her to.

In some cases the fence we erect around our hearts could be likened to a small picket fence with a Welcome sign on the gate. Other hearts have been so hurt or so deadened by sin that they have an eight-foot (2.5-m) chain-link fence topped with razor wire around them. The gate is padlocked and has a large No Trespassing sign on it.

So how can we open our hearts?

    Xx,

    Katie

    Quick DIY Craft

I’m a huge fan of repurposing fabric for a quick sewing project. This one was a quick sew for my journal pouch. When I say quick, I literally mean fold the fabric to your desired size (trim as needed), then sew two straight lines for the closure, and then sew on the fabric ties at the center edge so you can wrap around the entire pouch. The lace edging was already on the towel, so that was a plus!

    After a quick sew…DIY accomplished!

The fabric of choice was a towel I purchased a while back from JoAnn’s fabric in their clearance area. I love the mustard and cream floral design, and most of all the quote on it that says ENJOY THE NOW. Ah, how I love that!

The journals I’ve been using a lot lately are from Heidi Swapp’s Storyline Chapter notebooks. They are the best size that I have found with paper that isn’t too flimsy. I tried the Moleskine notebooks, but the paper was either too thick or too thin. Yes, I’m that picky and concerned about this 🙂

I would share with you what I have inside and the papers I’ve glued, taped, and stuffed, notes from poems, quotes, scripture, photos from interesting Pinterest finds, and memos that I write from my collected thoughts so I don’t forget. Most importantly, these notebooks contain my work, and I’m rather too shy to share with you for now, plus some of it is private.

Until then, I hope this inspires you to create your own fabric journal pouch. Cheers!

    Xo,

    K.

    Check this out!

I love it when an original music creation is a hit and then, years later used in a sample. It’s so cool to see how different versions of the same song can create a mood. Here I’m featuring Mariah Carey’s 1995 hit song Fantasy, and the original sample from the Tom Tom Club’s Genius of Love that was released in 1981. Y’all, it’s a flashback to the 90’s and 80’s! Both of these songs carry a catchy and happy tune…which I’m a fan of. Check them out and you’ll see what I mean.

    Have a great weekend!
