I don’t think I’ve ever shared this with you, but my favorite classical composer is Claude Debussy. He is a french composer who was part of a musical movement called the Impressionists.
His musical achievements consisted of both contemporary and classical compositions.
His private life is very interesting.
I won’t write about it here and you can research for yourself, but it reads very dramatic. Like as in a novel. I don’t know why Hollywood hasn’t made a film of his life yet? One thing for sure, you’ve probably heard his music somewhere in a movie.
I don’t want to sound cliche, but Clair de lune is my favorite of his work. It was first composed when Debussy was 28, and later revised.
Every time I listen to Clair de lune my mind wanders off to a peaceful place. It’s very difficult to put words onto paper how Clair de lune makes me feel. That’s why I was very excited to find this short animation beautifully created and directed by Andy Potts. His work is amazing and I’m happy to help him share it with you. Let me know what you think. Enjoy!
As a writer, I love words. It makes sense for me. I also love typography.
I’m not an expert on the different fonts or the style and appearances of letters. I’m not a graphic designer. I just love to admire letters like I do with art. It fascinates me to see them designed in such a creative way.
This short film is absolutely a work of art. From Paper To Screen created by Thibault de Fournas, a graphic designer. It is the evolution of typography from paper to screen, set beautifully to the backdrop of music by one of my favorites: Clair de Lune – Debussy.
I discovered this delightful short film by accident. The artwork is amazing and the process incredibly absorbing. This is paper crafting at it’s best.
A Parisian Wintertale is a story written by french novelist Tatiana de Rosnay, who captures perfectly the magic of the festive holiday. Tatiana is an inspiring storyteller. Her stories are weaved seamlessly from her imagination. She is such an inspiration!
I’ve included a wonderful link here on the process of how this film was created and the incredible work it took to draft such a project. If you have a free moment, take a few minutes to watch this video.
For Monday Motivation, I chose this song from Beck called Wow. These lyrics specifically:
It’s your life
You gotta try to get it right
Look around, don’t forget where you came from
It’s just another perfect night
We’re gonna take it around the world
We’re gonna take it around the world
Ride these wild horses
Beck is one of my favorite music artist. He’s a creative influence in the music industry and this song proves it once again. His inspirational message is also what attracts me to his music. They are positive.
The song might be familiar to some of you as well. You’ll recognize it from the Acura car commercials.
I’m one of those people who actually like to watch commercials. It’s that business marketing side of me I guess. Acura certainly hit it out of the ball park with their messaging through the use of Beck’s song and their ads.
As I mentioned, Beck’s music video for this song is absolute art. He and co-director Grady Hall featured collaboration from various Instagram visual artists. They are mentioned at the credit via his official Vevo . You can still see these visual clips at his website here. It’s a nod to be featured in one of Beck’s videos. His children are also featured in the video, as is his brother- in- law, actor Giovanni Ribisi. See if you can find them.
I discovered this cool drone ballet show last week on Vimeo. It’s extremely creative on several fronts. The first being the use of drones to create a beautiful synchronized performance. This to me is a wonderful use of technology for uplifting others and sharing cool inspiration.
I also love the stage set for this performance. The use of lighting and while the backdrop is dim, you can still see Mt. Fuji in the background. It’s such a majestic view!
Finally, the other creative element I love in this project is the music. The musicians are playing a Japanese instrument called a Shamisen. It’s literally a three string instrument. Such an illuminating mix of traditional sound meets present day.
After watching this video, I hope they perform at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics! Wouldn’t that be awesome?
